Current research - Characterization of brown dwarf atmospheres.
2024-2025
I used JWST (GO 2965) data of WISE 1049AB to understand the physical mechanisms (disquillibrium chemestry + patchy clouds) that affect the atmosphere, and we can see variability. We focus on the processes of generating variability in the time-resolved spectroscopy and photometry of these objects.

Master's Thesis - Method to detect variable L-type brown dwarfs
Oliveros-Gomez, et. al. 2024
Development of a method to detect variable candidate L-brown dwarfs with a single spectrum. We designed spectral indices that allow us to identify features in other spectra of L brown dwarfs and thus create a list of candidate variables.
RECA Internship - T-type Brown Dwarfs Variability
Oliveros-Gomez, et. al. 2022
Development of a method to detect variable T brown dwarfs with a single spectrum. We design spectral indices that enable us to identify features in other T brown dwarf spectra and thus create a list of variable candidates.
Undergraduate thesis -Chromospheric analysis of the Zeta Aurigae system
2019-2021
Analysis of the chromospheric eclipse of the zeta Aur binary system in autumn 2019. The system's growth curve was analyzed, and the chromospheric columnar mass density and density gradients of the giant star were determined at two heights. Which were compared with data from previous years.

Current outreach projects - RECA
BARCo: Bringing the Astronomy to Rural Communities in Colombia.
RECA is the Network of Colombian Astronomy Students (the acronym in Spanish). I am involved in some projects, but the most relevant one now is BARCo. We promote science education in Colombian rural schools by providing activities and resources that are available to them despite the absence of internet connectivity. We want to reach 100 schools in rural areas, each with ~50 children ages 5-15, for a total of ~5000 children.
