Current research - Characterization of brown dwarf atmospheres and exoplanets.
2024-2025
I used data from JWST (GO 2965) to understand the physical mechanism that affects the atmosphere, and we can see variability. We focus on the processes of generating variability in the time-resolved spectroscopy and photometry of these objects.
Paper in prep.
Master Thesis - Modeling of atmospheres BD
2022-2023
Modeling the atmospheres of L and T-type brown dwarfs, as part of the Master's Thesis, to understand a little more about the physics and chemistry inside these objects.
Master Thesis - Method to detect variable L-type candidates brown dwarfs (review paper).
2022-2023
Development of a method to detect variable candidate L-brown dwarfs with a single spectrum. We designed spectral indices that allow us to find features in other spectra of L brown dwarfs and thus create a list of candidates to be variables.
RECA Internship - T-type Brown Dwarfs Variability (review paper)
2021-2022
Development of a method to detect variable T brown dwarfs with a single spectrum. We design spectral indices that allow us to find features in other T brown dwarf spectra, and thus create a list of variable candidates.
Undergraduate thesis -Chromospheric analysis of the Zeta Aurigae system
2019-2021
Analysis of the chromospheric eclipse of the zeta Aur binary system in autumn 2019. The growth curve of the system was analyzed, and the chromospheric columnar mass density and density gradients of the giant star were obtained for two points at different heights. Which were compared with data from previous years.

Current outreach projects - RECA
BARCo
RECA is the Network of Colombian Astronomy Students (the acronym Spanish). I am involved in some projects, but now, the most relevant is BARCo: Bringing Astronomy to Rural Communities of Colombia. Where we promote science education in Colombian rural schools by providing activities with resources available to them despite the absence of internet connectivity. We want to reach 100 schools in rural areas each with ~50 children ages 5-15, targeting ~5000 children total.
Work experience
Leader planning educational projects
Aug 2021 - present
Member of RECA's education committee. Our goal is to create new projects that bring astronomy to different schools in regions of Colombia. We propose and are carrying out projects with IAU and the embassy of Colombia in Spain.
Teacher. Maloka - MINTIC
May - Dec 2021
Instructor in a national project in agreement with the STEAM Ministry of Education, for girls between 12-15 years old from different regions of Colombia.
Teacher. Halley UIS Group - Physics
April 2018 - July 2019
Planner and instructor of positional astronomy activities for a course for elementary and high school students in urban and rural zones.
Outreach and extension assistant. Halley UIS Group
2016 - present
Planning and conducting activities to teach astronomy to the community at large
